New Pool Table - Thanks to the ”Oldies”

Our unsuccessful bid for funds to purchase a new pool table via our Leith Decides application has a happy ending. On hearing of our plight the local 50+ men's Health and Wellbeing group based at the Pilmeny Youth Centre came to the rescue. The reasons why? The youth centre is planning to team up with the 50+ Men's group and PDP to offer regular games sessions at the youth centre and key to the sessions were a game of pool, as well as other activities. The groups current base at the Lorne Day Centre isn't practical for what the agencies had in mind, so it was decided to occasionally pop down to the youth centre on a Wednesday afternoon to enjoy a more active session. Plans for badminton, darts, Wii sports etc are all being discussed and the guys are keen to get going. Long-term aims are to develop the sessions to include inter-generational work with the youth centres young users. The new pool table, which is free play, will be a major ingredient of the senior youth club and LOSP programmes, thanks to the ”Oldies” who bucked the trend and were prepared to invest in the local young people. Well done guys.
